The clientele consisted mostly of elderly individuals, and the restaurant followed strict social distancing measures due to COVID. However, the incessant talking from the waitresses was a major drawback. Eventually, I politely asked our waitress to stop talking to us, but she was unable to comply. If I had cash on me, I would have left it on the table and walked out. Thankfully, a polite and quiet young man was eventually sent to attend to us. This incident certainly left a sour taste in my mouth, and I don't plan on returning to this establishment in the future.
Had breakfast there this morning, had the western skillet and eggs benedict, server was okay, wasn't exactly cheerful but the food was terrible. Paid and the only thing that was good was the coffee and toast. The hollandaise sauce looked like gravy and didn't...taste like hollandaise at all. The hashbrowns taste like they been soaking in fryer oil overnight and deepfried more than once. The egg was not fluffy, it was flat, the sausage had a strong taste to it as well which made for an unpleasant meal altogether. I only ate half of my skillet and my wife did not want to finish her eggs benedict. I enjoyed the toast and coffee and still left a small tip for the waiter, but I will not be spending my hard earned money there anymore. What a disappointment.
We visited here for a late breakfast one morning. It was a week day and not too busy. We were promptly seated and our server came by with menus and asking if we wanted coffee. Coffee was delivered quickly and our server told us of...the breakfast special. After consideration, we went with the special. In short order, it was on the table, piping hot, well prepared and presented. It was delicious. Additional coffee was never a problem. After the bill was presented, we paid and had a chat with our friendly server, which made the breakfast all that more enjoyable. Great place.
This restaurant is situated in Churchill Square in St. John's. The establishment was clean and our server was friendly, quickly taking our order. The breakfast menu featured several Newfoundland dishes, which was a nice touch. I ordered the fish cakes, touton, and baked beans. Unfortunately, I was informed by our server that they were out of fish cakes after I placed my order. Instead, I received a Newfoundland steak (bologna). Our meals arrived in a timely manner, but the baked beans were not as described - lukewarm and watery, likely straight from a supermarket can. Disappointing! One thin slice of fried bologna replaced the fish cake. Again, disappointing! Prices at this restaurant are average, but there are certainly better dining experiences to be had in St. John's. I cannot recommend this place. Enjoy St. John's - it's beautiful!
I ordered the chicken parmesan and it was excellent. The meal was served hot and fresh. The portion size was large and filling, but I wish there were more veggies and less pasta included with the dish. It would be nice to have the option to substitute some of the pasta for vegetables. For dessert, I recommend the cheesecake with blueberry topping, which was also delicious.
