So many (ok - too many) things to chose from. Eyes on all the other dishes being served, desperately trying to decide what to eat. Being very gluten intolerant, it was great to see all but one of the menu items being GF. We chose, we ate, we drank, we enjoyed it all. Great food, great value, great staff (really nice to see a restaurant focusing on younger staff, and for those staff to be very good at what they do), great ambience. Damn! Was driving, so the temptation to try some proper Mexican tequila had to wait until next time. Which will be fine, because there most definitely will be a next time.
Very friendly atmosphere, a restaurant with character and not just an eating house. Great food which is real Mexican and NOT TexMex. good range of wines and beers with several Mexican beers available. Muchas gracias Adios
I found the service to be excellent, and the food tasty, but the serving sizes were small and not the best value for money. The margaritas were delicious. I'll be back, but not for a while.
Two couples in our forties wanted to try Mexican a little different. Service was good. We enjoyed our meals and some of the flavours were not what we were accustomed to but that's what we wanted. The decor and ambiance were quite interesting too. We will come again.
We live just around the corner from Maiz and Mezcal. We have eaten in often, but more often it's been a favoured take away on a Friday night. What started out as a love affair with the food offered by this restaurant has ended tonight after a couple of previous times of disappointing take away. We ordered our favourite grilled barramundi, which, when we opened the lids of the containers at home revealed small pieces of fish atop wet, limp old pieces of lettuce and cucumber with tiny cubes of dry, luke warm potatoes. At $27 per serve it was the last time I'll be ripped off like this. I'd rather have fish and chips from the local chippie, because at least I know what to expect and feel like I'm being taken for a ride. I don't know if it's changed management or different chef - but something is not right.
