Disappointing. Highway robbery. Asparagus soup was made in an oversized soup plate with only about 4 tablespoons of soup for 8,50 € main dish was more like a small appetizer for 18,90 € Everything was oversalted. Wouldn't recommend anyone. Not worth it.
That's good. To be honest, my favorite dinner is not the German, I am choisy person, so I don't have too many ways in, but his allright
The restaurant is part of the gasthaus where Dr. Faust blew himself up in an alchemy experiment tying to make gold. We were given a tour of his room and then had a truly wonderful meal at their lovely outside terrace overlooking the square of the picturesque Black Forest village of Staufen. Their house specialty is an enormous (enough for two people) dinner of Swabian pork, spatzle, a large filled noodle with mushrooms and an assortment of vegetables, all in a lucious brown sauce. The before-meal mixed salad was very fresh and made of an assortment of vegetables, and the home-made onion bread served with minted cheese was divine. Great food, great service, great value.
We didn't speak much German but the staff were extremely attentive and understanding even taking the time to help us during peak tourist season in summer. The choice of local dishes were super and tasty. We soon learned the local speciality, Pfefferlingen wild mushrooms. Boy, they cooked up a storm with them, served with spâtzle noodles. The wine list was also good value. Although I'm a white wine fan, I'd suggest you try their excellent reds.
