Zeer mooie atmosfeer en personeel/uners. Het is prachtig om whisky te proeven die de eigenaar leuk vond. Het eten was gekwalificeerd en goed voorbereid.
After a walk through the city and along the beach we chose randomly this restaurant to have a beer or two. After entering we were really surprised how lovely and nice the rooms were decorated. As we only cam for drink we could chosse from the Whisky Lounge or thebig table in the corner where you felt like sitting in a scotsmans living room. We took the living room : The waiter was traditional dressed as a scotsman and war very friendly and has had a huge knowladge about what they have to offer. I was really surprised about the beers they have to offer and as I promised to my self never to drink a Heineken in the Netherlands : I went for the Gordon Scoth Ale and as I went home I orderes it online, as this was the best Ale I ever had! Good choise folks, good choise. After the Ale I needed to taks Whisky as the have had the largest list ever. In a price range from around 5 € up to 25 € per shot you can find scottish whiskys from all areans in Scotland. Really good idea and I was completly satisfied after my choise of Whisky. All after all, Great Idea and keep up with this, you're doing a great job!
Psssst......I'll let you in on a little secret. If you ever need to run from the law, go to Starvoren in Friesland. There are almost no people there and you can conveniently access the ocean which is a bonus if you have a get away pirate ship. (Your pirate ship will blend in with all the other pirate ships so don't worry about being conspicuous). Every good running from the law pirate needs some good food and whisky to get them through the day. Well you are in **** luck, Johnny Depp wannabe because there is the most random, but delicious, amazing, Scottish restaurant run by the nicest Dutch people you will ever meet in the sleepy town of Stavoren. The owners of De Koebrug get involved in every aspect from developing their own whisky concoctions, to locally sourcing a rich haggis made of meat and liver (good to know for those that get squeamish about too many organs). The whisky selection is enormous. Don't go getting all snobby about damn good whisky of their own! Now the food fantastic! It's so creative while keeping to its Scottish roots, with a splash of Dutch for good measure. Think goat meat bitterballen, haggis spring rolls and pheasant terrine. We had excellent mains of horse and rib eye . I know, I know, the same people that get sad about Bambi also get sad about Sea Biscuit but if you like to eat Bambi, try Sea Biscuit as well. The dessert was TO. DIE. FOR. I've eaten many a' sticky toffee pudding in my day but I have never had one as good as this. EVER. I'd describe the cheese board as a well rounded blend of Dutch and British cheese ranging from sweet, almost cheesecake like to a deliciously musty Shropshire blue cheese. A great finish to the meal. We had a fantastic experience with food/drink/service from start to finish. Our reservation was at 7:30 and we didn't leave until after midnight. Unlike in Amsterdam, this drawn out dinner was by choice and not due to the typically slow service. We lingered on as long as they would have us drinking whisky, coffee and listening to some great stories, sound business philosophy and anecdotes from the owner. I'd recommend getting here fast word on the street is that they might be moving a bit further south since Stavoren doesn't have the volume of holiday makers it used to. Before then, if you feel like an random, off the beaten path adventure up north for a day or two, go to Stavoren and be sure to visit De Koeburg!
