There were at least four other groups out at the same time as we were and eWe didn’t even come close to them. Our wrangler was awesome and incredibly helpful. Would recommend.
Incredible Views!!! The horses they gave my young girls (8yr and 10yr) were so calm and well behaved! We all loved the adventure!
We were there yesterday for horseback riding. Our family of 4 had a great time. The views were amazing and our guides were friendly. Hot chocolate was very good. The only thing I wish was better was us being able to spend more time with the horses without riding them like feeding or petting. We didn’t get any of that. Overall great experience and I recommend it!
Saddleback Mountain Ranch is a perfect destination for all of your winter or summer mountain activities. My group visited for the winter activity of snowmobiling, but there are a number of other options available. Some of the other activities include tubing and horseback riding. I visited Saddleback many years ago for a horse drawn sleigh experience with my family. This time around, my adult siblings and I decided to be more adventurous and try out snowmobiling. I am so glad we did despite the cold temperatures. We booked our 2 hours snowmobiling experiences three days before participating, so I’d say it is easy to get booked in advance, but do still plan ahead. I can imagine that it gets busy here at certain times of the year. The snowmobile guides provided training and operating tips prior to the trail ride. The guides were incredibly friendly, informative and experienced. The ride itself is on a vast area of private land, so there is no worry for obstacles or other riders in the area to watch out for. The guides are knowledgeable of the area, and kept the ride going at a good pace. We got the opportunity to “tear up” an open field area after a fresh snowfall. To share our entire experience on the snowmobiles would be quite a bit of space, but I will just say that visiting Saddleback Ranch is a must while in Steamboat. Give your legs a break from the skis, and take a seat on a snowmobile, tube or horse at Saddleback Ranch! Not only is it a great winter experience, but you’re also supporting a local business. Our 2 hour snowmobiling experience ended with a treat of hot chocolate and cookies! I wish I could remember the name of our tour guide, but I know he’ll recognize us from our photo shared! Thank you Saddleback Ranch for a great group experience!
We absolutely loved the snow tubing. Buy tickets in advance because the shuttle bus was completely full for our time slot. The shuttle bus will pick you up at Steamboat Square and take you to the Ranch which is 30 minutes away (and a gorgeous drive). They have four tubing runs, two green tracks, one blue, and one black. It doesn't take any more skill to do the black track, but the black track does have a couple of bumps so you're in the air briefly if you take this run. On the green tracks, you can link up with a buddy and slide down together. The tube lift is a nice relaxing ride up an ice chute, where you can just sit back and relax while enjoying some gorgeous views. In the two-hour session, there is plenty of time to go up and down the runs six or seven times, then use the bathroom and stop for a hot drink a couple times. There's a cabin which serves hot food and drinks (both cold and hot) and has clean restrooms, so you can take a break from tubing when needed. We enjoyed our time very much. We didn't try the snowmobiles or horseback riding, but loved the tubing.
