Holzgauerhaus - Steeg

We went to Holzgauerhaus last week to have a nice meal, we thought. It is the only 'fancy' restaurant near the village of Warth. The menu was classic and very well prepared. The service was terrible. We had made a reservation and after we had taken the restaurant at the hotel reception (not in the restaurant itself). There, apart from all other guests, an old man stared at us all the time, which felt very unpleasant to us. When we asked why we were sitting in this place, they said that in the "real" restaurant only hotel guests who seemed to be a total lie were allowed to sit outside in this part of the restaurant. The waiters were unloved to us the rest of the evening and tried to gather us by giving us some liquor. It didn't work. They ruined our evening by never apologising to lie to us and be their guests! Too bad the food was good.

Over the past few years, we have eaten here a few times. The rooms are charming, but the food is not almost as good as what you can find anywhere in the Lech area.

We were there for lunch after our hike. There is a beautiful terrace with a beautiful view of Warth and the mountains of Arlberg and Tannberg area. In sunny weather conditions, the terrace is a perfect place to enjoy a hike or... to close the tour. The service is very friendly and helpful as well as the quality of meals is delicious and you will find some traditional and local delicious meals. Only the risk is to get a seat, so it makes sense to make a reservation in advance.

Es war sensationell dort zu Essen. Der Service war hervorragend und wir haben die Stunden dort sehr genossen. Reservierung nötig, das Haus ist sehr gefragt

Wir waren heute zufällig im Holzgauerhaus und wollten bei einsetzendem Schneetreiben nur einen heissen Kakao trinken. Geblieben sind wir fast fünf Stunden. Und wir kommen wieder. Was den Unterschied macht? Wenn der Gastgeber einem das Gefühl gibt, persönlich willkommen zu sein. Einen derart perfekten Service haben wir auch im Warther Hof noch nicht erlebt. Das Essen top und die Weinkarte: ...wie gesagt, wir kommen wieder. Auch die Kinder waren begeistert und willkommen. Danke für den tollen Nachmittag!
