The food took approx. 40 minutes to arrive, at which point we had to scoff it down really quickly and head off with no time for dessert. The staff were inattentive, which was a shame because the food was delicious and we would have loved to have had another course.
I have given two stars for the service. We booked a table for two for Sunday lunch on the first day of our holiday in Snape. We arrived and the two lads serving were very professional and helpful. My wife ordered the Sunday roast and I chose the fish and chips. I love fish and chios and eat them regularly, both as take away and in restaurants. The fish and chips that I was served at the Crown was dreadful. I am 62 years old and these were by far and away the worst gish and chips I had ever been serves. The chunky chips looked very unappetising and were clearly overcokked. They were dark in colour and very hard to the touch, I only managed to eat 3 or 4 chips. The fish was like the type you buy frozen, The bayter was thin and again very overcooked. A couple of mouthfuls and I could manage no more. I showed the food to one of the young lads serving and asked him if he would eat it. He did not reply and apologised. I informed him that I was not complaining to try and obtain some king of discout, but to his credit he kindly did give us a good discount. I am not sure if the food was cooked by a trained chef or a family member, but it was very poor. We will not return.
This was our second visit on the May Bank Holiday. We came back because they were so friendly and accommodated my partners large mobility scooter and our 3 dogs. We had Sunday lunch and it was divine, the Yorkshires were large and made with corn flour, the nicest I’ve tasted. The meat and veg and gravy were all delicious. We normally have to call several places to see if we can drop by, we always are passing through here in our motorhome. We are generally met with rudeness on the phone but not here at The Crown, it’s always a yes, the staff are amazing. We will be back.
Stayed here for one night in the car park after finding it in Brit stop book. Excellent little pub with helpful staff. Made us and our dog feel very welcome. My wife ordered the home made cottage pie and it was delicious. Heard a couple moaning about the wait for food but if it’s made fresh and home made surly 30 mins of your stay is worth the wait. Excellent adnams beer choice too. Keep up the good work guys
I love this place and the fact it’s a family run pub makes it a much more appealing. Have ordered online for pick up and been to visit with friends and now family. A definite choice for relaxing dining and a friendly atmosphere.
