We were invited to dinner in the Sydney CBD at a restaurant called King 143 that we had not heard of before. After initially missing the entrance twice, we finally found it and climbed the stairs to a stylish venue that could accommodate around 50 guests. The decor was simple yet functional and the atmosphere was pleasant. The head waiter greeted us warmly and led us to our comfortable seats with plenty of space. The menu and wine list exceeded our expectations with reasonable prices, a rarity in the CBD. Although not extensive, both lists were full of character, creativity, and quality. The food we ordered was excellent and the wine was a great value, much cheaper than other places. The service was quick, efficient, and friendly, making for a seamless dining experience. I highly recommend King143 and look forward to returning in the future.
We were extremely impressed by King 143. It is a quiet and unassuming small restaurant that is ideal for a romantic dinner. The food was delicious and the service was attentive yet not intrusive. The wine list was decent with a good selection. It is rare to find a restaurant that creates a romantic atmosphere nowadays. Many are loud and the staff are always busy. However, this one delivers and I would not hesitate to come back again.
We came here to check out the location and the menue for a future function. Though the actual restaurant is a little outdated and feels like it needs a good clean throughout the menue sounded exciting and the waitress was very pleasant. The French influence can be felt through the wine selection as well as the food choices. The wine we chose was simply outstanding. The entree was very flavoursome squid spring rolls; the main was nice but was missing a little something deboned chicken with crab wontons, and the dessert of creme brulee was lovely though the icecream was a little bit bland. Overall the food was good enough to want to come back so we made the reservation for the function. They also provide some hot bread and a chocolate Petit fours at the end of dinner lovely addition. Overall lovely and quiet just needs a little updating on the decor.
I have visited this restaurant with business clients for the second time, and once again, everyone enjoyed the atmosphere, decor, and food. The restaurant offers an interesting blend of French and Asian cuisine that surprisingly works well. I ordered the French Onion Soup and the Duck (a typical French dish) along with a bottle of French Chablis, all of which was delicious. Unlike larger restaurants that are noisy and modern with stainless steel and floorboards, this restaurant is small, intimate, and quiet. I have already booked my next client luncheon here to complete a perfect trifecta. While the service is just okay, the food is excellent, and the location and decor are very impressive. Surprisingly, the prices are reasonable.
