The food is mediocre and overpriced.I ordered noodles with trout, but the fish was missing except for a menial amount on a sauce at the bottom of the bowl. I could taste ginger more than the fish. I asked that the greens were served on the side but the were not included. This was $20My partner ordered the special curry which was a basic spicy red broth with potatoes. He ordered it with tofu and was given shrimp instead. The taro and butternut squash appetizer was bad. Everything was undercooked. We were doing take out and the staff didn’t even bother to put it on a box big enough for it. They gave us an open container to take home. The sauces tasted like they were bought at a supermarket. The last thing I will say is that it seems like they lie to their customers about dogs not being allowed at the restaurant. We were told someone in the kitchen had an extreme allergy to dogs (with made no sense because we wanted to eat outside far away from the kitchen), and after reading other reviews it is evident that they just make up excuses instead of just saying that they don’t like dogs at the patio. In conclusion, save your money and go somewhere else to eat. This place is over priced and the food is not great. Maybe the lack of competition allows them to get away with the poor service and the mediocre food.
Mixed feelings about this place! I must say right away that the food is very tasty 5/5! There is nothing for children! We asked to cook a hard-boiled egg for a 9-month-old baby, they brought a soft-boiled egg. I once again asked for a hard-boiled egg so that the child could eat, they refused us, they said that they could not make hard-boiled eggs?, what's the problem? Made a problem out of nothing! Then they agreed, but again they brought a soft-boiled egg, is this some kind of joke or what? We paid $4 for these 2 eggs, I don't mind paying that money, but my request was not granted twice! You need to be a little more flexible and more customer-oriented! Since you don't have food for the kids, such small requests shouldn't be a problem! Thanks to the guy who thoughtfully brought our baby stroller under the canopy when it started to rain!
Most of the food was good, especially the shrimp dumplings, but they served the hanger steak almost raw and when we pointed it out they refused to fix it with absolutely no apologies. (Picture of hanger steak below)
We've passed by and wanted to try it. We were not disappointed. It's a small and quaint little place with seating outside but we chose to eat indoors. My husband had the pnang curry with shrimp and I had the massaman curry with chicken. I can't tell you which dish was more delicious. We shared a bit because they were both excellent. It was a bit spicy, but that only added to the experience. We also tried the chicken wings and they too were worth having again. We will surely go back.
Love this place! We lived in Thailand for six years and this is some of the best Thai food we have had in the US. During our stay in North Carolina, we ate here three times, it was that good. The catfish and curry are amazing. While the Thai food is fabulous, so is the atmosphere, service, and owners. Don't miss a meal at Dalaya!
