The special sauce added to the flavor. The yakisoba could use more flavor, but had a good mix of vegetables. The prices were a bit high for the portion sizes. The atmosphere was clean and inviting. I have dined in Japan numerous times, including in Osaka where this restaurant originates. While the food was authentic, they could improve their culinary offerings.
The food at this restaurant is good but not overly fancy. I appreciate that they provide oshibori for guests to clean their hands, giving it a Japanese feel. They also offer Japanese tea if you prefer that over water. The service was quick, though the staff could be a bit more attentive when needed. Overall, the restaurant has an authentic feel.
We also tried the tempura moriawase, which included prawn and vegetable fritters. Despite not typically enjoying tempura, we found this one to be enjoyable, with crispy and non-greasy pieces of eggplant, squid, and prawn that paired well with the dipping sauce. Although fruit shakes were not available, we settled for canned fruit juices. Overall, Nihonkai Tsukiji may not be the best option for Japanese cuisine in the area, as the dishes lack authenticity and the serving sizes do not make up for the lack of flavor.
I went with some friends at work on a Friday night to satisfy our craving for Japanese food. While we enjoyed the chit-chat and ambience, I felt a bit short-changed with the chirashi serving size and freshness of the sashimi. The ventilation could also be better since we reeked with the smell of food when we came out. The menu is quite typical of a regular Jap resto. No surprises. Overall, I'd say this was an average Japanese dining experience.
One of the best Japanese Restaurant here in Manila . The serving is almost good for two and taste good. Must try!
