Antrim 1844 - Taneytown

This is strictly regarding the dinner. The atmosphere is perfection. The staff are wonderful. The wine pairings with each dish were very nice and a good choice for the food. The cocktails were perfect. However, the food was not up to where it should be for a $900 bill. At that price point, every single bite should be absolutely amazing. Certain things were amazing like the risotto, the salad, and the Casarecce Bolognese. The worst two dishes were the stuffed Quail and the Bouillabaise. Both were far below expectations. None of the deserts hit the mark. The cold squash and asparagus were a different idea but honestly if that was the best way to serve it, we would all be making it that way. At this price point everything served should be measured in the end with this idea in mind: if this was a banquet, would people go back to this dish for more. If they wouldn’t, it’s not good enough period. Again, the ambiance is absolutely perfect but I don’t think we will be back. The food simply isn’t wonderful. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5

This is truly a 5 out of 5 hotel. It's a gem hidden in an unsuspecting town. The rooms were so clean and so unique, and the staff is all so friendly and accommodating. Also, the grounds are BEAUTIFUL! Could visit any month of the year and have a delicious meal, beautiful views, and a comfy room to return to each night. The house was decorated beautifully for Christmas, the service was amazing (James) and the savory food was so, so good. However, this is our 3rd visit in 14 months where the desserts have not been good. The tiramisu was dry and the gingerbread was way too sweet. They used to do a tasty tray of assorted desserts which was really nice. It's such a shame to end such a lovely experience on a disappointing note. I hope they can improve that component because everything else was phenomenal.
