However, the calamari was also unavailable, which reduced our options to three. The Thursday night special was a burger and a drink for $20, but it turned out to be yet another schnitzel on a bun, rather than a beef burger, which disappointed several patrons. There was a notable absence of red meat on the menu—no steak, roast, lamb chops, or even bangers and mash. I ordered the flathead fillets, which were three thin strips of processed, pre-crumbed fish that seemed frozen, served with a tiny side of salad and chips. Guests who ordered the schnitzels and parmigianas reported even worse experiences, as the meals tasted like they had come straight from a supermarket deli, also processed and frozen. If a restaurant is going to serve pre-packaged food, it cannot claim to offer an extensive seasonal menu. None of what we had appeared to be prepared with fresh ingredients. It seemed that the chef was more focused on reheating and frying pre-prepared items than on actual cooking. We had dined here several times in the past but had not returned in at least two years. This visit was a major disappointment, and we will not be coming back.
I had a wonderful meal and the service was excellent, complemented by a friendly atmosphere.
