Very rare I say a place is memorable. What Cafe Panama has going for itself, is its genuine homeliness. It's quirks and religious fixations contrast to it's surrounding neighbourhoods extravagant apartment complexes, bustling coffee shop/Fidel Castro memorials and Scandinavian Inspired granite tiled pasta shops, this old-school diner is a delightful pit stop down Taranaki Street and an eye-catching extension to its church. I think it's true that the staff are all a part of the churches congregation, with what I assume the proceeds go back into. The menus and cabinet food are all tasty, fair priced and well catered for. A nice place to bring your family to.
I thank myself every time I come here.My friend and I walked in here for the first time a few weeks ago not expecting too much as their prices were roughly around the 14 dollar mark. I grabbed the vegetarian breakfast, and my friend had eggs bene w/ bacon. The coffee came out promptly, but the food took a while, and we were both starving. Wow, it was worth the wait! Photo speaks for itself, I will make this place a weekly visit!
I find it really hard to get a consistently good long black, but I've been coming here and it's always spot on. The staff are really friendly and I love the interior with the plants and unique artwork. The food is really nice as well, I like the homemade corn beef ...super reasonable prices too...one of my favourite Wellington spots !
