We booked a trip through RCI to get to Rancho Tecate on Valentine's Day weekend. Our trip down was very nice, there was a little traffic and a little construction, but the roads were very good, except of course where the construction went. We have come before Rosarito and Ensenada, but never after Tecate, so I was a bit comprehending, but it turns out that it was not necessary. Upon arrival in Rancho Tecate we were warmly welcomed by the staff. David, who spoke excellent English, explains something about the resort and where we would spend our next days. The resort is a beautiful rustic location several luxurious haptic. The rooms are large and very culturally comfortable. There were snacks and drinks place around the resort is free to enjoy. We have also been on a 4x4 tour through the property that includes several viewing points where you can see for miles and miles, even back to the United States. Staff at Rancho Tecate usually Puerto Norte were particularly nice eating an excellent price is very reasonable and you really get a feeling of Old Mexico while staying here. I would recommend this resort to anyone who is happy to relax and enjoy time with their family or special loved ones. The pool and Jacuzzi area was closed for construction and they will expect to be opened soon. Notwithstanding this, we had a wonderful time.
The best thing about this restaurant is the service. We've eaten there at least five times. The waiters are by far the best employees we know. They change the staff quite often, but it seems that they have a high standard... in the attitude. So it never decreases with the new staff. The place is somewhat outdated and could use some serious reconstruction. I know they're working on redesigning the entire hotel room to room, so I'm sure this will be done sooner and later. The location is great as it is on a private ranch that is nice to run around after eating. Especially after the rainy season when everything is green. The food is not as good as the atmosphere or the staff. It's decent food, so please don't let me be wrong. The food is not worth the price you pay. It is a high-end restaurant, with high end prices, and yet food is not high end quality. The only thing I would really recommend is her Agua Chile de Callo. These are scallops in an avocado and lime sauce, which is served cold. I tried many other dishes, and none of them was really recommended. You have a Sunday brunch, which is quite extensive. I've never eaten at the buffet because it's quite expensive. Besides, I don't feel like slipping, just to what I paid. I think it's about $30. I might be free, but not much. They sucked pigs that are slowly roasted over a fire. I was there on Sundays but asked to order from the menu they allowed me. So that was nice of them because they usually don't allow it.
