Ravenna Country Market

One of the prime rewards of heading north on GRAY COUNTY ROAD 2 just before RAVENNA is the absolutely magnificent vista which hits you (on a clear day that is) out to the Beaver Valley and Georgian Bay. In addition to that is the chance to stop at this marvelous little local gem which has been pleasing people for years. A new wall in front surprised me as I had not been up here in about ten years....but the food selection and quality is just as good as ever. Mostly locally sourced products and merchandise as well as freezer cabinets stocked with quality (and thus a bit pricy) meats and prepared on-site meals. Sadly, not being as hungry as I had wanted to be we opted for the CLAM CHOWDER....which was a bit of strange choice I initially thought ...but it was as good as I have had anywhere in the Maritimes and New England...and much more reasonably priced, all things considered. We ate it on the lovely little picnic-tabled porch area overlooking the ocean of Georgian Bay washing up to the beautiful Beaver Valley vista. Parking: A few spots off the road...and then 4 designated on the side of the road....this would be a dangerous spot if it gets crowded on the weekend......
