I feel that there could have been a better vibe had more thought been placed into the evening, I paid $15 for entry (when my friend paid $5) and for a babysitter for my 3 kids to sit for and evening of ease, entertainment and enlightenment and it was mostly dead air and not well planned. I wasn't told that what I ordered was not available until over an hour after I ordered. I do not like to complain but this has to be known. I drove and hour to get to your event and visit this business for the VERY first time and it was not a good experience at all. When I did get my second choice of a meal, the beans and rice was rice with very few beans sprinkled about.
Was craving some Caribbean food, my mom is from Guyana ?? and my dad is Jamaican ?? so I'm well versed in Caribbean cuisine. I from New York and finding good Caribbean food here in Texas can be hit or miss.GLOWS: The food here was definitely tasty, glad I read the reviews and asked for the peppersauce because that really reminded me of home. So good! I also liked they put the Curry over the rice. The lady who took my order was very friendly and apologized to me that the food was taking so long, so I appreciated her customer service.GROWS: The food took a really long time. I arrived at 7:15 prepared to wait about 15-20 mins but I didn't walk out of there till 8pm! I spent about $17-18 total. $12 for the curry chicken, added $2 for the plantain and then I left a 15% tip. I received 4 thin strips of fried plantain basically the equivalent of half a plantain and I received the equivalent of a chicken leg and half of a thigh. (Caribbean people do chop up the meat and bone to smaller pieces) I don't believe what I received warranted a $15 meal. All in all, the restaurant was clean, vibrant, they played great music and the food was good. I'd go back when I'm ready to splurge and don't feel like cooking.
Now this is my second time coming the chicken roti $12.99) BUT YALLLL this roti is so big and has an amazing taste I went in at 1:00 and got my food 15 ish mins later I'm coming back again also they made sure i got napskins aint even had to ask *usually that doesnt happen for me*! It was so big i had to cut it in half?
As a native Caribbean individual, I make it a point of duty to support my fellow Caribbean people. So, my daughter and I tried Tropical Breeze yesterday and needless to say, I was beyond disappointed. I have never spent any money at any Caribbean restaurant and had to throw my food away. Not only was the food/ drinks unacceptable, the customer service and professionalism was beyond acceptable. Not to mention that I was accused of getting free food after I paid for everything I got. To each their own on judging the quality of food, customer service, professionalism etc. But based on my experience, this is not in my books one place I would recommend to anyone I care about. If you care about your patrons, and the growth of your business; having a better disposition about what a customer has expressed to you is always a good way to go. Learn to take constructive criticism and learn from that to better yourself rather than sucking your teeth at the customer and making false accusations.
