This restaurant is named after an old cooking technique in which raw fish, garnel and vegetables are cooked when a red hot stone of the broth is added. I had garnel and it tasted more beautiful than it looked on the attached photo.
My wife and I had a marvelous dinner here. We ordered an appetizer of guacamole that was huge and about the best we 've ever eaten. For our main dish, we ordered mole rojo de Usila which was outstanding, especially since we cannot get good mole...dishes just everywhere in Iowa. Had a pitcher of juice made from the tuna fruit of prickly pear cactus.
This place is eclectic with healthy food -fat free and natural ingredients- which offers a good unique experience at a low price.
A friend brought me here on my visit to Oaxaca and I tried the traditional Caldo de Piedra (fish broth). the broth is heated up with hot stones from the river bank of thhe connunity in San Pedro. This place is excellent for people who...want to try something authentic and different.
