It's an old two story house, and every room has a great concept. The food was absolutely delicious, as we had the shared 3 course meal. My wife loved her salmon appetizer, and my fish bisque was outstanding! The bread and butter they served us with the complimentary champagne glass for our anniversary was amazing! We then shared the lamb shoulder, which was huge, and absolutely incredible! The meat literally fell off the bone, and was flavored to perfection. We then finished the evening off with the rhubarb trifle and the petit four chocolate. Our server Annet was so sweet, and very dedicated to her work! This was an excellent dining experience, with high quality ingredients, and above and beyond customer service!
We loved our meal in Áarstova. Our party ordered the three-course menu and the highlight were the slowly baked lamb legs that were served in addition to sampling local vegetables. The meal was the perfect warm and cozy end of a day spent hiking on the North Island. They even sat our group of seven in the attic (like a library!, which was candlelight and was made for one of our most unforgettable meals.
The lamb is cooked in beer and cannot be modified for those with celiac disease. However, other menu items can be adjusted, including the desserts. Reservations are required and it is important to inform the staff about your dietary restrictions. Gluten-free bread is available.
We made a reservation in advance and mentioned that we had 2 guests who were gluten-free. I was delighted to find out that the restaurant had prepared gluten-free versions of some of their dishes with long preparation times for us to enjoy. The lamb and cod were both delicious options on the menu.
I made a reservation in advance and specified that there were two guests with gluten allergies. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the restaurant had prepared gluten-free versions of some of their dishes with longer preparation times specifically for us. The lamb and cod were both delicious options that we thoroughly enjoyed.
