Spillane's - Tralee

We went there the two days we stayed in Castlegregory because it was perfect ! Warm welcome, delicious food and what about these Cheesecake ! Thank you : Anne-Sophie Vincent from Luxembourg

I was staying around the corner in Scraggane Bay with my family of 4 and 3 inlaws. We walked to Spillanes with no booking and we’re met with friendly staff who found us a nice table for the 7 of us. We ordered Hake and Chips, steak, stir fry beef, and sausages, all of which got polished off with no complaints. We all had desserts ranging from chocolate sponge, jelly and ice cream to Baileys Sundae, again no complaints. The location is ace if you are in this beautiful part of .

Have been visiting spillanes for 20+ years , the food has disimproved , was very disappointed, the kitchen is serving average pub grub At restaurant prices , the steak was the best main course at our table, portion sizes have definitely changed gone are the lovely fresh seafood platters that we relished!! We had a charcuterie board the meat was dried out hard!! Salad was inedible!! Seafood linguine , consisted of spaghetti with a decent amount of seafood but the sauce was passata!! , not good enough I can cook that at home , we are paying you restaurant for meals that don’t compare price wise!! Watch portion sizes Spillanes , they have definitely reduced, do less do it right!! Had food in Dingle the following day in John Benny’s , lovely seafood , burgers etc , much cheaper than spillanes, the final insult was €8 for a brandy!! Very disappointed, won’t call until you get back to better quality value.

Used to be a real go to place for us but not any more! Ordered soup to start with and left it there at that. Was not great and looking around at others customers food over cooked chips, soggy toasted sandwiches). Went else where for second course. Real shame, as used to be so good but had certainly lost it's way

We had a birthday meal for our family of 7 people which was good. On leaving I asked for a cone with chocolate sauce on it and was told no we don 't put sauce on cones as it ends up on the floor . I am a 58 year old lady and firstly, would not have allowed the sauce to drip and also I would have been consuming the cone out doors. This put a damper on my evening. Not customer friendly at all in my opinion. Usually the service is good, however on this occasion, being treated like a child and refused chocolate sauce incase 'I dropped it ' was disgraceful .
