It would go crazy nuts there, especially amongst the health conscious, Lorna Jane wannabee vegans, glutards, vegos, dairy free, fun free etc. This place is perfect! Staff are caring, friendly and attentive. Bottle of water and glass was promptly bought to the table. Was a little difficult to choose exactly what I felt like eating but went with the Ramen soup in the end, Hakodate Shio Ramen, sea salt seafood based soup. I asked the waitress what else is in this soup apart from the pork and noodles, answer was, egg as well, no vegetables, you have to add and pay for these. Base soup was $13.50 added spinach $2, chilli $1 I think (unusual to be charged for chilli I thought), I would have added some other ingredients, but this adds up fairly quickly. I was pretty happy when the soup arrived, looked great and tasted very nice. Had loads of spinach in it, plenty of noodles, but only a very small amount of pork, sliced very thin. This was a letdown after a promising start. The menu is small but interesting.Definitely worth a try and I will return to try some more of the menu!
We've been ignored over 15mins after we came in this small cafe.I know it was busy, but even waiters saw us, they didn't say any greetings at all. There is only a dirty table just customers left, so we sit there and waited for waiter come. While we been waiting, waiter came to taking order for our next table(even they didn't ask and they said they need a time for decide), and immediately served tea for them. I believe they had a time to clean up a dirty table for us or just say us [Hello how are you?] at least, then we could understand waiter gonna coming for us soon. But they did not. Just ignored long time.Staff are not professional at all, and they don't wanna be.
Two thumbs up for Black Dog Gallery! They offer a delicious range of ramen (the spicy ramen is highly recommended), Japanese breakfast options and desserts, with outstanding coffee, friendly and prompt service, and a cute boutique cafe vibe. The ramen serving is generous (see pic). I'm happy to travel across town for this ramen, it's that good!
We had 2 miso soups and a vego rice dish, all of which was really good. Almost as good as being in Japan.
I was catching up with a friend for lunch, and she recommended this Black Dog Gallery, as she had been there a few times and really liked it. As a fan of Japanese food, I was delighted to see that they had a Japanese breakfast/brunch menu, as there are plenty of Japanese restaurants in Adelaide, but most of them only do dinner. Black Dog Gallery has a great selection of noodle and soup dishes, especially ramen, which you can order until 3pm I recall. I personally ordered the green tea pancake which was huge, and came with whipped cream, bean paste, and edible flowers. It was absolutely delicious as well as creative. I loved it!It's quite a small cafe, and the decor is minimalist with a Japanese influence, making it very comfortable and cosy, as well as a little quirky. As it states in the name, it's also got plenty of pleasing artworks for sale adorning the walls. The service was friendly and fast, as well. Overall, it was a lovely experience eating here, and I would definitely go again.
