My son found a large bug that had been cooked along with his home fries. When we brought it to the attention of the waitress, she brought the Manager over. The Manager apologized, and offered reparation. She was very sweet but then her apology went south...she then proceeded to tell us the bug must have come in on my son, that she had just looked at her kitchen and it was clean. His response was I'm sorry but the bug was cooked into my food, was flattened, and buried in home fries. Very disappointed.
Comfy setting made to look like a vintage diner, with cute kitschy decor. Very fast and friendly service. Good coffee. Simple food done pretty well. Check out the extensive omelet list.
My wife and I went for a late breakfast this past weekend. We arrived after the busiest time of day, roughly 11am. The diner was maybe 2/3 full, and appeared well staffed. We were waited on by a young girl, considerably younger (I'd guess late teens) than most of the staff and not wearing a uniform. She took our order, brought coffee and water, and then disappeared. She only came back twice over the next 40 minutes. Once to bring our food, and once to clear our plates and take the check. We observed her chatting with another young waitress by the prep stand. Any coffee refills we had to flag from other passing waitresses, and we couldn't get anyone's attention to bring our check for close to ten minutes. The food itself is okay. Classic diner fare. It's underseasoned, particularly compared to other local diners like the Owl or Cameo, and specifically lacking in depth of flavor and lack of salt. Prices were also high, running nearly 40 dollars for two entrees and coffee before tip. This is consistent with my past visits, though the service was considerably worse this time. It was geographically convenient, but I won't make it a point to go again.
We wanted to like this place, but unfortunately our food in our opinion was among the worst we've had in a breakfast diner setting. Uninteresting, dry, lacking flavor. We couldn't understand it in light of the popularity of the place. And don't bother going if there's a vegan member of your party as far as we could tell, not one of the main dishes was suitable. That person pieced something together by ordering sides, but again, nothing to write home about.
Off the bat we were greeted by multiple gracious staff members. Received quick service with quality meals for great prices. Left Dream Diner satisfied, happy and ready for a successful day. Excited to try other options on the menu next time we are in the area. There is a large selection of omelettes and a large menu to pick from. Even if you are particular about your food this is a place to explore. Also to top it off the aesthetic style in Dream Diner will be remembered. A great place to make memories while receiving a unique meal.
