Le Comptoir du 7 - Uzès

Excellent dishes with very good products, pleasant setting

It was perfect, from entry to dessert. the dishes are refined, and of great qualities, no false note. Also note that the frame is very classy. a very nice surprise during our holidays.

Before Covid we were regulars at this restaurant and enjoyed it. We returned after nearly 2 year’s absence. What a disappointment. 133€ for 2 menus and a bottle of local wine and a meal that was nothing special. Cooking has really gone down. A starter...of a lump of Luke warm cauliflower roasted in a few spices, a bit of cream, a few chopped nuts and 2 thin thin slices of smoked duck breast that added nothing to the dish. The main course was tough beef with a nice bit of confit beef the only thing I couldn’t have produced at home. Boring dessert. Very disappointing. We won’t come again at these prices. Better at Volver, Ten or Racine and cheaper. Good marks for being the only restaurant in Uzes to have gluten free bread. The staff drinking cocktails in the entrance as we left was not a good look.

Despite the recommendation from TripAdvisor and the marketing talk on the website of the restaurant, this restaurant is NOT capable to live up to its promise for vegetarians. There is only one vegetarian main course and there is NO vegetarian starter! There is not even...the intent or desire to create a vegetarian starter when asked... To make matters worse, the vegetarian main course is just a random collection of cooked vegetables. There is no concept or thought behind the creation of this main course. The result was a major disappointment. In addition the other food is mediocre but priced as if it was something special which it isn't. Service is not briliant either, we ordered prosecco which had been opened too many days ago, we commented on this but reply was that it was fine. Only when we send it back they came with fresh glasses of prosecco that still had is bubbels.. What of course is positive is the interior of the restaurant.. but I came for the food!

Agreed with others, the food was tiny portions especially vegetables not even a florets of broccoli and the potatoe was a cube .. felt like they were ‘eaking’ out the portions. However I saw on another table a couple eating the same menu with large...portions and they were then joined by a member of the kitchen staff. I felt like I was being treated just as a ‘tourist’ when I am actually a resident. My chicken was undercooked and I sent it back and the service was incredibly slow. 1 hour for a main course. I ate an amazing meal here last September 2021 what has happened? I do not agree with previous reviews that accuse people like me of being an eat all you can person. This was a very disappointing meal as I brought my family for what I expected was a special occasion. Nearly 120 Euros for just a menu de marche. Many of the restaurant customers on that day made a rush to the till to pay because it was all so slow. I have returned to the Zanelli and it is as always fabulous. I have been coming to Uzes for 20 years and know what I’m talking about.
