A special place and one of my favourites. Casual simple decor with a huge menu of very delicious traditional Taiwanese and Asian dishes. Very reasonable prices. Suitable for families groups or solo diners. Great for lunch or dinner. The food never disappoints me, as I enjoy traditional Asian cuisine.
Food at Sunshine Café is really terrible. The food was pre-cooked, then re-heat using microwave when customer comes in. Sunshine Café takes cash only, credit card and bank card were not been accepted by the owner. One time I was ordering meal at Sunshine Café, but do not have enough cash just 10 cents short), then I was force to go to nearest ATM to get cash. I ended up paying additional $5.00 CAD for the bank charge. I used to be a daily regular customer at Sunshine Café, but I do not go there any more because the food at Sunshine Café at Crystal mall in Burnaby, BC, CANADA, is really terrible. 100% terrible. Never go back again!
Food was good, but the waitress insisted that we gave more tips. It was a very unpleasant experience.
We have been to this restaurant several times. It has your typical options of Taiwan style food. The quality is quite consistent and there are a wide variety of options. Unfortunately after our last experience I will not be going back. Our waitress was rude, did not smile or make any eye contact, ignored requests for service, gave me my change in twonies for a $30 bill, then pointed out that the tip is not included in the bill as a way of insisting I give her a tip right at the cash register. I felt pressured and so I tipped her to my husband's later disagreement. I could see the restaurant was very busy and she obviously felt stressed and rushed. But I would rather not be on the receiving end of her negative emotions. Even though we have not had such rude service before I've always had the impression that this place is fast paced and overwhelmed. I'm sure they won't miss my business. I will be happy to dine elsewhere, and in Vancouver there are lots of options!
