Ocean Basket Vereeniging

I’m not sure who the other reviewers are referring to, but it can't be Ocean Basket at Waverly Plaza. My wife and I dine there regularly and have never had a disappointing meal. Their Bassa fish, Hake, and various other items on the menu are consistently excellent, and the service is quite good. I've never encountered a restaurant that demands a 30% tip—only in New York. I believe Ocean Basket Waverly is the best of all the Ocean Baskets in Pretoria that I've visited. I wouldn't recommend dining at Queens Corner, where I've had three bad meals, or at Ocean Basket Newlands, where the Bassa I had was small, old, and dry. On a brighter note, this location offers an extra sauce on top of the three typically provided, which is a nice touch. Kudos to them! - Laurie Ibbitt

I received exactly what I ordered, and it was delicious. The restaurant has recently been renovated, and it looks fantastic. The service was quick and efficient.

This is by far my favorite Ocean Basket location. The staff is friendly, and the service is quick and efficient. They offer their own chili sauce, which is delicious and not available at any other branch. The atmosphere is lively yet warm and inviting. They also have a special dinner for two, including two glasses of wine, for just R99. It's definitely worth a visit!

Like all are equal but some are more equal, this Ocean Basket is the exception. It must be the hospitality of the Moot. The atmosphere is much more authentic and the owner/manager somehow managed to give his shop a distinct feel within the confines of a franchise. The service is always friendly and I've even been served complementary sherry in the winter months.<br/ <br/ Visited again! Still the best!<br/ <br/ I've frequented them when I crave a fish and chips fix and I can recommend asking for their special peri peri sauce (only available here).

Food was fresh and tasty. Our Carafe drink didn't have enough alcohol but the kitchen crew rectified this promptly. Service was on point. Great laid back place to have food and chill as a family.
