Good for a quick and filling lunchThis place specializes in all-in-one rice bowls.
If you find it open, you are in luck. They have the oddest, shortest hours for a restaurant! (Maybe 11 am.
We were on our way to visit another restaurant while on foot on 30th avenue but instead chose to stop in at J-Don when I spotted the sign. Don't let the simple décor fool you; this is authentic Japanese fare, prepared by Japanese staff. Our order was taken quickly and we did not need to wait long for our food to arrive. We ordered two beef donburi bowls (mine was a half-size) and were both quite full by the end of the meal. The thinly sliced beef was well-seasoned and stir-fried with onions and placed atop rice, lettuce, and rice noodles, and garnished with a fresh orange slice. So tasty! I will return to try some of the other items on the menu.Although another reviewer had commented that the place used plastic, I would point out that it is a café. The locals dining there dropped off their trays at a station near the exit. Everything at the station appeared to be kept tidy.(I would have shared pictures, but with the smoky haze outside, the orangey tint didn't do the food justice.)
Small restaurant serving a limited Japanese menu. Our Japanese daughter in law (from Iwake, Japan) says it is "pretty good" Japanese food for a small town. It is open for lunches and dinners only, and has a busy take out business. East side of Vernon's downtown (which is not very big). Clean, friendly, efficient, food is fresh and hot.
