Monument Cafe Versailles

Really excellent lunch and a great value. You can choose 1 main dish (served in individual cast iron pots) and 4 sides (savory or dessert). My main was confit lamb shoulder with truffled mashed potatoes and it was outstanding. The meat fell apart under the fork, the sauce was rich and meaty, and the mashed potatoes were a perfect match. If you see the peas offered as side dish, get them. It has an intense fresh pea flavor, like putting springtime in your mouth. Just lovely.

Loves this place !! Great concept of a modern cafe restaurant where you can pick your hot main course and select some accompanying cold savoury or desert items. All fresh and tasty ingredients. Friendly waiter gave my daughter a few extra macarons as a special treat to finish our meal.

We had a great meal there and the service was good too. We are from the USA so we had to try macaroons everywhere we could in France. This place had the best we tried in the whole country. A little advice...eat with your silverware, even a sandwich! They all use the silverware even on sandwiches. Great experience.

Having arrived on the train to Versaille we decided to find brunch before heading over to the gardens. Having come across what appeared to be a pleasant looking cafe that was open and offering breakfast buffet we decided to go in. There were approximately 5-7 people seated at tables throughout the cafe and so we stood waiting to be seated at one of the mamy empty tables. After a few moments a lady arrived, very pleasant, however stated we could not enter without a reservation, which is not mentioned anywhere else and were advised to return later. Needless to say we went elsewhere!

While walking looking for a restaurant we stumbled across Monument Café. For travelers who are busy all day and not wanting to wait to eat at 1800 hrs. or later Monument Café is perfect. It offers starters main plates and deserts or the choice of all you can eat buffet. Good for lunch good for dinner and a brunch on the weekends.
