Rooftop Patio at the Strathcona Hotel

Love the rooftop!! And this chicken sandwich on the menu is the best thing in Victoria!! Prepare yourself to be a little messy!! But it is so worth it to lick your fingers and feel at home lol Of course, who can resist cheaper drinks and great food with a view!!

The food and drinks were good and not too pricy. We had the artichoke dip, which was great and had big chuncks of artichoke, the chicken quesadillas and the pepperoni and mushroom pizza, which were both very cheesy. The buckets are a must! They are all tasty and come in a cute sand pail! But it was so windy and cold even with the giant space heaters and glass walls. Our waitress was very nice and kept the drinks coming but we had to leave early becuase it was just too cold to stay. I would definitely recommend going on a day thats less windy or just avoiding it until the summer weather is here to stay. Also note that there is a large flight of stairs to get up to the patio and if you aren't able to do stairs, I'd stay down at the wicket.

I will gladly sing the praises of pretty much every establishment located in and around the Strathcona in Victoria, but I don't think there's a better bar on the island to be in the summer months than the rooftop. There's very much a choose-your-own-adventure approach in terms of relaxing drinks, beach volleyball, shots at the bar... you name it. If you're not careful you'll spend the entire day here, which really isn't that bad of a worst case scenario.

The venue is great, but in the afternoon I hosted my group, we felt that our server did not lack enough training or experience. The collective opinion was that the food was so, and we left ourselves waiting for drinks for 30 minutes and for an hour on our food order, so it wasn't all on the server shoulders. Bills were almost all wrong. That means we're gonna go back because it might be a free day.

Everything was terrible. I organized a post-work socially and they totally ignored us. Food and service were terrible. It won't go back.
