Make sure you come at 20:00 before you know that all seats are taken. In a way, the place is simple, but that has... it charm. You see that this is a popular place for the locals. The Empanadas are nice.
It is a very simple restaurant, but everything is excellent. The best Bife de chorizo and the best Pommes I've ever tasted. It is worth mentioning that there is another Boliche de Alberto located in downtown Bariloche, where the meat is as good... as here, but the French pommes are not the same and that makes the difference!!! Since it is not possible to book ahead and the place is always full, I would recommend to be there for opening hours (i.e. 12:00 or 20:00).
Local favorite. At 8:00. It will fill at 8:30. If you're an American, GET HALF ORDERS. Hugh serves excellent meat. Moutain of French Fries. The desert was good too. Excellent wine at very low prices. The best steaks we ever had....They have GOT to try this place.
We went there as many friends recommended. First note: You do not accept reservations. This is quite unusual for a place 20 km from the centre of Bariloche or from the Cerro village. So you should go and wait. When we arrived, the place looked dirty and the staff was disastrous. The table next to us was advised that they should not order a sharp beef cut (vacio) because it can take too long. Although there were some tables ready to leave, we were told that waiting was at least an hour!! Obviously, we left the place when we felt unintentional. I hope you're lucky with this customer service.
When presented with the wine list of over 30 choices [many Malbecs and Cabernets], I usually pick 4 or 5 many times they are out of what I want. Inevitably, they will be out of one or two of what I requested. I have...had this happen all over Argentina. So, after my third choice wasn't available here, the curt waitress informed me they only had one Cabernet available. Why go to the trouble of giving me a wine list? Same curt waitress also took 20 minutes to get me the check when requested. Food was, at best average. Steaks were good quality. Empenadas and Chorizo were tasty. Fries were horrible severely underdone. Wine, obviously, was just OK. Service was horrible. Guessing it is popular because they get mostly tourists who never come back.
