Maison Francis Miot has a very limited lunch menu, just a few salads and a few tartines, but everything is excellent, inexpensive, and ample. The salad Bearnaise, which I've had a couple of times now is amazing, with a huge serving of fois gras, magret...fume, wonderful greens and very nice sweetish salad dressing. The entrees are always small but very inexpensive, and very tasty. Then there's the dessert! This place has it all where that's concerned. It may confuse you from the street, as the dining area is in the back of the shop, so it is a bit inconspicuous. But the actual dining room is very charming and warm, with a nice view of Pau. One of my favorite lunch spots in the city.
This chocolatier serves one of the best hot chocolate drinks in town. We went to this place 3 times during our week stay and of course taking away plenty more. They make a prize winning confectionary called coucougnettes which is a must. Staff were very...pleasant and you could sit quietly in the tea room behind the shop to admire the view of Hedas.
Situated near the Chateau de Pau, Maison Francis Miot is a large shop and serves various types of tea. A wonderful place to unwind and catch up with life whilst eating the award winning Coucougnettes and Teton de la reine Margot. I shall be coming...back with friends very soon.
The entries were all perfectly cooked, visually perfect and balanced. The tartines (open sandwiches that are the main course) were also well balanced and textural wonderful. Desserts, while I usually don't order them, were from this WORLD... the framboise cake oh-so-good!
