We were excited and ready for a great evening. We arrived an hour earlier than the show and found that this wasn 't enough time to find a table as there were not enough tables for the number of people that had booked. We were in fact the only group that didn 't have a table or seats. After awkwardly standing out of the way in the corner of the small dancefloor for lack of options the Entertainer a lovely woman) took pity on us and provided a table and chairs for our group of 5. We happily sat down and were chatting amongst ourselves when we were approached by a highly intoxicated male telling us we couldn 't sit there. We explained politely that we hadn 't picked the location and he left. Moving directly to behind the bar where he and the male bar staff member talked and laughed while pointing at our group. As this continued a member of our group approached and asked what was going on and the bar staff told us we couldn 't sit where we had, and needed to go ask other tables if we could join them during a pandemic and requiring us to spit up at a birthday celebration). We did do this but only found two spaced. We chose instead to continue to stand in our prior spot as we wanted to be together and were still excited for a fun evening. As we had been told we could keep our seats in that location but not the table we chose to keep only 2 chairs and a small stool. Amazingly this drunken male approached us another 2 times before then proceeded to attempt to take our stool after being told 5 times we still wanted it, requiring me to put hands on the stool as he tried to grab it. Ridiculous. For the next half hour his group of friends, mostly older intoxicated men then continued to point at our group as they sat/walked to the bar. As I was the designated driver and hadn 't had any alcohol I went to the bar to ask if there was any more problems and to see if anything could be done about this. The barman told me I was imagining it, that no one had been even looking at us. While he said this he was laughing. As the prior behaviour then continued and we grew increasingly uncomfortable being made to stand and effectively mocked on what should have been a great night we decided we would rather leave. As the Abba act hadn 't started we asked politely is we could have a refund. The bar man refused. After further discussion and explanation including the lack of seating to which we were told 'you had a table ' one he didn 't provide and then removed) he asked us to provide our online booking details which we readily did, but would not give any guarantee except his word. I highly doubt that we will receive our money back as he then proceeded to comment while laughing that if we left at 'the O2 we wouldn 't get a refund '. I highly doubt we would ever be treated so poorly at a reputable venue! As we left a member of our group stopped to speak with a member of staff who had helped them speak to the surrounding tables to hopefully find us space, to explain why we were leaving early. This barman had followed us for a 'smoke break ' and smirked while he listened. This did upset my friend who told him she would never set foot in the pub again. He informed he that he hoped she never would. I have never experienced treatment like this at any pub I 've been to in my life. That it happened on a birthday made it all the worse.
This was our first visit to the Rising Sun and we weren't disappointed. 6 of us ate Sunday lunch . The portions were very generous. We chose The roast beef and turkey options which were served with peas green beans carrots and cauliflower. Mashed potatoe and roast potato...and stuffing and yorkshire pudding.....and generous servings of gravy. Extremely reasonably priced....we will certainly be back. Staff were very attentive and friendly and we eere served our meals very soon after ordering. Would highly recommend visiting
My Mum took my daughter and I here for Sunday lunch yesterday and it was fantastic. I honestly can not fault the dinner at all, it was beautiful. There was everything you could and would want on a Sunday dinner, the staff were happy to give me extra gravy when I asked too. The roast potatoes and yorkshire puddings taste like proper home made roastys and puddings should! The small size is very generous and was more than enough for me and I can eat alot. The deal on a regular meal is fantastic too as it means your child (think it stipulated under 14) eats for £1!! My Mum got the regular but gave me some of it as sge was struggling, we was both so full and content My daughter got a kids meal and again, the size and choice was brilliant. None of us had room for a pudding but they looked just as impressive and tasty. The staff were lovely and very accommodating, we pre booked the table and our meals but was slightly late. They still accomodated us, they was polite on the phone and face to face. The lady that appeared to be in charge was especially helpful, friendly, polite and nice. It was that good I 've booked in again for next week with my husband and daughter. I booked it on Facebook messenger this time via The Rising Sun Facebook profile page. This was just as easy to book as it was when phoning in our booking. Top marks for the staff, food and the price of the meals, puddings and Family feed deals.
Just had sunday dinner here, was very nice could do with more mash and another yorkshire pud. This will make it worth the £8.95. The cauliflower was a little bit to hard for me but the meat was perfect very soft lamb and the family had beef which they said was also perfect. Not sure the yorkshires were home made, but none the less i would recommend the food. The drinks are also a reasonable price with plenty of choice.
Called in today for Sunday lunch and it was very busy but we still managed to get a table. There was a 15-20 minute wait for our food but as it was very busy we thought this was good. The food was all cooked to our liking and well worth the money, the staff took our plates away very quickly when we had finished and asked if everything was ok with our meals which it was. Good service and goof food we will be back.
