Alsea Bay Crab - Waldport

During our trip to the Central Coast, we were eager to go crabbing. After speaking with a few places that rent boats and gear, we realized it was a bit too early in the season for us to catch our own crabs. Fortunately, Alsea Bay was the only location that offered fresh crabs for sale. We approached a gentleman, who I believe was the owner, even before he had officially opened for the day. He was extremely accommodating and helped us purchase 8.5 pounds of fresh crab at $13 per pound. After boiling the crabs, he packed them on ice in a box for us and even included some delicious house brown butter. I can imagine their sandwiches and other dishes are equally tasty, and I found the prices to be quite reasonable. I would definitely recommend this place!

The smoked tuna sandwich is hands down BANANA'S good!!! He threw in a small side of potato salad and coleslaw both delicious. Everything was scratch made. Absolutely a must try if your down at the port of alsea! Can't wait to go back and try more of the menu!!! We came right at opening and the only thing he was out of was crab but he was expecting it in FRESH CAUGHT any minute, he definitely cares about quality.

Nothing beats food made with heart and soul. And that’s exactly what you get at Alsea bay crab company.Troy is passionate about everything that he makes. From the homemade chili using his mothers recipe to everything he smokes on sight such as sausages and tuna. Obviously the amazingly fresh crab when in season is the show stopper. You can get it done a half a dozen ways; crabcakes, crab melt, whole crab steamed with butter.Jessica was the friendly face at the window that greeted us and enthusiastically walked us through the menu giving recommendations which of course prompted us to try everything. She was so delightful and friendly that you felt like you’d known her your whole life. Can’t wait to go back!

We ordered the crab cakes and rice, and they were the best we've had in a long time. The price was excellent; you could easily serve that meal in a restaurant for over $20. It was quite busy during our visit, and it was a bit messy, likely due to previous diners. That’s not the owners' fault, and I don’t want to mislead anyone. However, if you prefer a spotless dining environment, you might consider taking your meal home.

This is the real dream seafood! Fabulous Albacore. Go where the middle locals go!
