Tatsu Sushi - Walnut Creek

Far from your “hole in the wall” sushi joint. I’ve lived in the East Bay for over 10 years and can confidently say Tatsu has the best food, service, and atmosphere of any sushi restaurant in the Walnut Creek, Concord, Danville, Lafayette area. Proportions are always greater than expected, fish is always fresh, creative menu, friendly staff, modern decor, chill music and vibe, reasonably priced, and free gyoza and miso every time we’ve visited. This is our go-to spot and we’ll continue to recommend to everyone we know. Keep up the great work guys!

I had lunch today and ordered the daytime combo which included a spicy tuna roll. The miso soup was cold and seemed like it could have been leftover. The waitress assured me that they would cook a fresh batch for me. Unfortunately, the rice in the spicy tuna roll kept breaking when I tried to pick it up with chopsticks, indicating that it was not made with the correct type of Japanese sticky rice. It seems like the sushi chef could use more training in how to properly roll sushi. Overall, the restaurant could use some improvement.

I absolutely adore this restaurant! The food is exceptional and I can't praise it enough. My favorite dish is the ribeye Bento box, which I always get for just $15 at lunch time.

The atmosphere was pleasant, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the complimentary gyoza appetizer was a delightful surprise. The presentation of the food was appealing, but the flavors were only average. The agedashi tofu was probably the best dish, even though it was missing the bonito flakes pictured on the menu.

I wanted to eat today with good friends who recommended this Japanese restaurant very much. we ordered from the lunch special menu and also tried the dragon roll and california roll. lunch special came with elk soup, green salate, white rice, and large selection to escape. we ordered the black catsu, teriyaki bark and teriyaki salmon. all day selection were awarded with large portions. additional bonus for our order over $35 was a complementary order of goyza! we will definitely roll again other and lunch selection!
