I was slightly disappointed as I had planned to order the 2lb lobster, but in the end, the 1.25lb portion was more than enough. The lobster comes pre-cracked with a small plate of tools, including a stylish lobster bib. None of the other diners seemed to be up for the messy challenge, but we eagerly rolled up our sleeves and dove in.
On the night I visited, the only option available on the menu was the lobster. Initially, I was a bit disappointed as I had planned on trying something else, but in the end, it was more than enough! The lobster was served cracked, as expected, with a small plate of tools including a fun lobster bib. Despite none of the other diners participating, my party proudly put on our bibs and prepared for the delicious "battle" ahead.
Been here a few times now, normally early week , it has never been to busy but in the Summer I could imagine it being packed.Keep going there on the Groupon deal (sad me) but I intend to return to try some other Menu items, a nice restaurant, lacking a little in atmosphere but everyone I have taken has been happy (maybe the Company LOL)Yes it could be a little better, but overall it represents good value for money, it is in a fantastic location on the Thames, parking at night is quite easy in the streets nearby, I would not listen to the other moaners on Trip, get on down there and give it a try
Not normally the sort of person to complain and I must open by highlighting the location and the service. The girls looking after us were wonderful, we were a table of 12 for a birthday and they looked after us well. As with so many of the other reviews though, the food is the big one. Obviously high rent for the location so cost cutting elsewhere, but the prices are extortionate for what it is. I had the Lobster Bisque, a friend had the Chowder and someone else had the scallops. The scallops were tiny, frozen, and so over cooked they made a noise as they rolled round the plate; the bisque was genuinely just tomato soup and I don 't think even they would dispute that, and the chowder was vegetable broth. The steaks were thin, the chips were damp, the lobster was rubbery.... Our bill came to well over £500 and we had to make a bit of a joke of the whole thing to our guests who had come from elsewhere. When two of us went to speak to the staff, we were (I hope) most courteous, and as mentioned, there was a resigned smile from the head waitress who presumably had heard it all before: Genuinely lovely location, genuinely lovely staff, but the food is dreadful, and then as a little backhander, it 's absolutely extortionate as well. Stop doing Groupon deals!!!! If you put your prices unbelievably high so that a 2-4-1 deal looks attractive, you won 't attract regular customers!!!! Focus on the food, let the chef cook properly because no seafood chef will be doing that out of choice, and you could have a really great little place.
We came on a Groupon deal. When we arrived the place looked dull. It was clean, but just boring. Considering the location, they could do so much more with the venue. The menu was a laminated piece of paper with drinks, desserts and mains all on one sheet... Bit of cheap feel to me.We were told after we ordered that they had run out of things... Bit annoying.. The oysters were served with a very poor excuse for a dressing and badly opened as there were bits of broken shell inside, but at least they were fresh. The starters were bland. We ordered the chowder and we had to add seasoning as I don't think they even added salt. The chowder was disappointing, it felt like it came out of a tin. Very thick, tasteless and hardly any fish in it.Now we ordered lobster... It looked nice when it arrived, but then it stops. The lobster looked overcooked and it was ! When I cracked it open, I hardly found meat in there, it had shrunk to less than half the size of what it was before cooking. The meat was dry, tasteless and tasted bitter. Considering this is called Lobster house, you would expect them to know how to cook a lobster.Desserts were decent enough, but they gave us a teaspoon with it, not great to eat cake with.Service was alright, but I was very reluctant to pay the 12% service charge. This place has seriously killed off my love for seafood for a while... Very disappointed.Avoid !
