We decided to try the new Spanish restaurant that replaced it, and were pleasantly surprised. We ordered the tapas menu and tried 10 dishes among the 6 of us. Some dishes were better than others, but overall we were satisfied with our meal. The service was efficient, even with large groups present. We plan to return, though we are unsure about trying the paella due to the high price.
I dined with a group of friends and we all had a fantastic time at this restaurant. The food was outstanding, with a variety of dishes that we all enjoyed sharing. Everyone in our group was satisfied and pleased with our meal.
I was hesitant to return to this restaurant, but with limited dining options nearby and after a challenging day, we decided to give it another chance. However, we will not be returning. I would give this a terrible rating instead of just poor, but the staff did try hard that night. My negative rating is mainly focused on the food. The mussels were clearly old and had a strong odor. When I brought this up to the waitress, she acknowledged that other customers had also complained about the mussels before. We ordered two mussel dishes as part of the tapas selection, and the stuffed mussels emitted a foul smell as soon as I tried to eat them. This type of quality issue is simply unacceptable. The owner, who was very friendly with happy guests, conveniently disappeared when the complaint was raised and left a young staff member to address the issue. It's a shame that the restaurant's survival depends on excellence and freshness of ingredients, especially since most people prefer dining in the larger town nearby on a Saturday night. If multiple complaints have been made about a dish, it should be removed from the menu until the seafood quality can be improved. We will not be returning to this restaurant.
We went 4 adults and 2 kids, it took too long for staff to even offer us drinks... Then finally we ordered food and were told paella takes 45 mins which we were more than happy to wait so we ordered entrees and food for the kids. We specifically stated the kids drinks to come out with their meals and that did not happen. Then the entress came out at long intervals so we had to watch each other eat whilst waiting for our entrees. The first paella which was seafood was given to the table whilst my wife an I waited for our paella. Our family finished eating their paella and we still did not have ours. I felt like an idiot watching them eat whilst waiting and hoping our meal would come out any second which it didnt. We did not share the first paella as my wife and I do not eat seafood. We asked where our mixed meat paella was and after staff enquired stated that it was not ready but they could serve it now if we did not mind that the rice was not completely cooked and would be slightly hard. We had two little children who had finished eating and because it had been so long decided to get the paella now. Finally food was served and our family now had to sit and wait whilst my wife and I were able to finally eat. I woulnt winge but it was not like the place was packed or busy, cant imagine how they cope if it was flat out. Now positives, nice look, staff friendly, food was great besides hard rice. Would I go back???possibly but not with a group. But I would like to thank friendly service staff, not their fault for kitchen being unorganised.
We had a table of 14 last night, and the food, service and wines were all fantastic. It's great to see such a great restaurant in Warrawong. I hope this business thrives...I know I'll definitely be returning. Do yourselves a favor and take a trip to Warrawong to eat at Amona. You won't be disappointed.
