We took a snow cat up to allyn's lodge near sundown for a dinner at the top of the mountain. The snowcat was bumpy, but not much you can do about that, and the ride was overall very pleasant. The dinner was exceptional, the appraisers, soup, salad, main course (if not a bit rarer than I prefer), and dessert were all amazing. The staff did a perfect job of striking a balance between leaving our group to ourselves and being friendly and social (we especially enjoyed chatting with a member of ski patrol that escorted us down). The lodge it's self was also perfect, with no indication it had been heavily used mear hours before, and a nice table, view, and lighting setup. The ski down was also beautiful. We were provided headlamps, and although awkward to wear they worked well (the guide gave up his own to one of the group members as his light was underperforming). The guide also made sure to stay behind the slowest member of our group. The conditions were also dreamlike (although they can't do anything about that). Overall it was a wonderful experience, albeit a bit on the pricer side, I feel I got what I paid for and then some.
Great lodge mid mountain. Small but nice to warm up if you can get a seat.
We had a fantastic evening at Allyn's Lodge near sunset, where we used a snowcat to reach the top of the mountain for a meal. The ride was a bit bumpy, but overall pleasant. The food, including soup, salad, main course (a bit less rare than preferred), and dessert, was all amazing. The staff struck a perfect balance between being attentive and friendly, and we especially enjoyed chatting with a member of the ski patrol who accompanied us down. The lodge itself was perfect, with a beautiful table setup and a stunning view. The ski descent was also beautiful, with lights provided even though they were a bit awkward to wear. The guide made sure to stay behind the slowest member of our group. Despite being a bit pricey, I feel like I got more than my money's worth from this wonderful experience.
Slightly better than the mountain is enjoying a cold beer and some wings afterwards, while their fingers get messy.
