On the day of our visit, we were a group of 15. Besides us, the establishment was empty. There were a few people that came in for a drink at the bar, but not one stayed to eat. Maybe this should have been a sign to us, for what was to come? You would think, that being the only patrons in the restaurant, we would have been dotted on. One might even expect the drinks and food to come quickly. Unfortunately, none of the before mentioned happened for us. I could understand, if we hadn't had a reservation. A group of fifteen could be daunting, but they had been given notice. I mean, the entire restaurant was EMPTY. There was no reason why we had to wait thirty minutes for appetizers. There certainly should not have been an hour wait for our meals. Our waitress did what she could to keep us happy. There is no children's menu here, so I ordered the macaroni and cheese appetizer sans seafood topping. This was brought out with the appetizers. Thankfully, my hungry little boy did not have to wait for his meal. Since we were eating so late, I was going low carb. I had ordered the Caesar Salad with steak. My husband ordered the Pittsburgh Salad (a salad with French fries served on top). Had I known how horrible my salad was going to be, I might've loaded up on the appetizers. My salad was overdressed, both with dressing and cheese. The croutons tasted stale and I got the stem of the lettuce. I would not order this again. Going around the table most people said the food was only ok. There are definitely better places to eat in the area.
I attended a lunch there today for my church's bus tour. The chicken was absolutely deeeeeeeee-lish! Sadly, there was one lady on the waitstaff who was less than kind and seemed very annoyed by the simplest requests. She wasn't even able to tell me if the cake contained tree nuts which I am allergic to. Instead, she shrugged and acted like I was bothering her. I'd absolutely return for that chicken though and just hope I wouldn't run into that server again.
If I were staying at the Double Tree, this would be a very quick and easy option. They have a limited menu for the most part. I've had the salmon the past few times I've been here, huge portion but I'm not too fond of the quality.
My friends I had a great experience at Maxwells on July 4th. Of course most people were at cookouts or parties, so the place was dead but we enjoyed ourselves. We ordered the wings as an appetizer which were cooked well then got the chicken Caesar turkey avacado wraps with fries to share. The wraps were delicious, a decent size, and you get a huge serving of fries. This was plenty for the 4 of us after being at the pool all day. We had a couple drinks as well. Our server was awesome and the food was both fresh hot. We even used the juke box and played a couple songs! I plan to return to Maxwell's sometime soon. Great addition to the Double Tree!
