I was looking more for a cafe and so was a bit disappointed with the poor range of foods available. The coffee was ok but not up to the standard of some of the other West End options and the layout quite simple and dressed down.
Coffee Roaster - West End, Brisbane. Looks can be deceiving or they can have you try to recheck that you are in the right place. This is so here, amongst a bunch of retail shops this little coffee house does not look like much from the outside and from looking in you will have to step into the shop to see that it is a coffee place. That is even with the signs pointing towards it. This is amongst the southern suburb's best places. A few hours later, the apt analogy for what the look is is that it reminds me a bit of a school tuckshop with the walk-up window to place the order. The rest of the space is very open and comforting - you do not have to chose al fresco to have the feeling here; they even accomodate to the kids with a play area in one corner. So this is really a place for moms to go for a break. They have some of the friendliest folk here as well, often one of the baristas might interact but all three here were very open. There was a degree of co-operation between them; I guess this is not one of the busiest places so there is that - one or two orders at a time as opposed to half a dozen or so instead. They seemed akin to the kind of people who would casually go to a coffee place as well, always a good sign. One of them was even complimentary on my order - a double shot cappuccino and a Cherry Ripe slice. Now Cherry Ripes are not amongst my favourite chocolate bar, but I will eat one if it comes along occassionally. However, it helps to be diverse in what you have to eat with a coffee - so yeah! Anyways, at the first bite it was a lot better than you would think. They used dark chocolate on top and there was a generous amount of coconut throughout the slice. The coffee here was exceptional, double shot can go either way it seems. I have a fairly high bar, and a lot seem to fall short in strength even if the coffee does the rest of the aspects right; it seems the ones that take me by surprise make the biggest impression. This was closer to the latter, but it certainly had the aspect that makes the difference between a decent coffee and a damn fine cup - that is if a satisfied sigh comes out after a lengthy sip of it, this time it did. Where they chose to put this place is genious in a different approach this time. It is away from the brunt of competition (though there are a few other coffee places in short walking distance) but what makes it stand out is it feels like it is away from work while only being a few streets apart. This is one coffee house I would enjoy having a return.

Consistently great coffee and food. Excellent service and always happy to come and see the staff smiling. Recommend the ham and cheese croissants and muffins
Love this place! I bring my own cup for a medium soy FW and its $3.5 so cheap and it's my fave coffee and generally quick and consistent. Have had a few food items (muffins, croissant, toasties) on the run in the morning and they have all been good and very reasonably priced.
