The cafe is behind the post office. It is a lovely informal friendly place. The service is great and food and drinks always excellent
Lucky enough to come here for breakfast whilst visiting parents who now live in Maiden Newton. All the ingredients perfectly sourced and cooked for the full English breakfast. Eggs, bacon, sausage and hash brown cooked as perfectly as any breakfast I've ever had. An absolute 10/10 and can't wait to visit again.
Great breakfast food is very hot staff are very friendly and efficient service and i would recommend that you try the food.
I can 't really offer a constructive review of this place when 'in full swing ' because, when we called in for a cup of tea and a coffee around 2pm on a Saturday afternoon, we were told that they stop serving lunches at 12 lunchtime on a Saturday!! I 've often passed this place and so I know that it 's a cafe as well as a newsagents, but when you go in to buy a paper it looks as if there are just a couple of tables at the back of the shop. So on Saturday I was almost gobsmacked when I saw the area beyond that has a large number of decent, if basic, wooden tables, the potential for a great atmosphere and a stunning little courtyard garden! As I say, they 'd stopped serving food but they did have a good selection of pre packaged luxury cakes which I was tempted by, but when I asked about dairy free ones (I am lactose intolerant they just said that there was nothing... I have a feeling that Jessica 's (bought in home made cakes are actually dairy free, as they are made with margarine which could be vegetable based but the staff made no effort to find out. And so we didn 't have our mild hunger pangs sorted out and went home for a late lunch instead. It was a fairly hot late spring day, but the patio doors leading to the lovely looking little garden were bolted shut! OK, I can now see that the courtyard garden is mentioned in the signage outside, but the human mind doesn 't tend to take in vertical lettering. And even when it does, you need to tell your customers about it and then blow the ruddy doors off! This little business is an absolute potential gem and so is the location. I 've owned small venues before and if I were lucky enough to afford this place I would milk it till the cows come home (albeit with the lactose free variety! . But sadly, this is as bigger a waste of a hugely promising business opportunity that I have ever seen. Whoever owns it, do this: Take the bull by the horns, then milk the cow. Or just shut up shop and sell it to someone who can.
