It's not just an old-fashioned tearoom - you can enjoy cream teas, lunches, Sunday dinners, and even stay overnight in one of the two rooms they offer. My partner and I stayed in the suite a few years ago and recently returned for another stay. It's a very special place, incredibly comfortable, spacious, and you might even have a supernatural experience as some guests have reported hearing spirits. There really isn't anything negative to say about this place - it's truly a wonderful experience! The breakfast that comes with your stay is absolutely delicious too. Don't forget to say hello to Debbie (or Derek) - they have some interesting stories to share with you.
A warm welcome and delicious food. Debbie our host made sure everything was perfect. This is a family run restaurant and B&B and everyone goes that extra mile. Many locals make several visits a week. That is always a good sign. Bone china crockery added a touch of class. The cream tea was the best I have ever eaten. There is a choice of homemade scones and they are huge. The building contains numerous furnishings and tapestries that complimented the building which is over 500 years old. Well worth a visit and definitely a place we will visit again
Our stay was absolutely amazing! You must meet Debbie who is the salt of the earth and a delight! The breakfast was also delicious, one of the finest full English's going!
I am local and visited the old tea house many years ago when it was like an old fashioned tea house with a great selection of cakes nick nacks you could buy.The table cloths were dirty with tea stains .because the tea pots didn’t pour properly. The staff were helpful the breakfast was ok but we shall not be returning its a shame as it use to have such old fashion character .
I highly recommend this restaurant. The owner and staff are extremely friendly, and the Dorset apple cake I ordered with a pot of tea was delicious (and a generous portion!). It is definitely worth checking out if you are in Dorchester or passing through.
