Well to start our guarantee seating arrangement for 5:15 pm 9/2/2023 was extended for 65 min(she said 40 max)with 6 empty booths,4 high bar tables and 1 low table, only needed seating for 4. Waited 5-10 more on server, took drink order, trying to take food order as soon as handed menus,we had plenty of time to review the menus if they hadn't ran out of them,I know it's true because hostess had a melt down to her mother(works in bar area) about it.ordered appetizers, still trying to take food order before turning in appetizers order....holy ****...coconut shrimp sucked,Hawaiian chicken was so dry it made the Mojave desert look like the everglades...bbq chicken was ok and my salad and Ahi was fantastic, ranch was spot on,cheese curds, chips were 100%...I suggest you train your staff a bit better, hire some more staff and pay them a decent wage...as for us,it's gonna b a while before we come back...ya'll have a blessed day...
Our family of 4 (two adults, two children decided to spend the day in West Jefferson on a Saturday in August. We walked up to The Tavern and decided the menu looked family-friendly, tasty and reasonably priced, so we elected to stay. The hostess informed us it was a 45 min wait for either inside or outside seating, so we added our name and number to the list and went to the cheese factory to pass the time. Our wait was approx 30 mins and we were seated outside. (Arrived at 1pm . The atmosphere outside is very pleasant: tables have umbrellas and there are string lights above on a beautiful tree. Condiments are on the table but I did notice the bottles were filthy (with fingerprints and old mustard /ketchup grime etc. We were greeted immediately by a young gentleman and for a server, he had zero personality. In fact, we had just commented on how nice everyone in town was and our server was the first unsmiling person we had encountered that day. We ordered two burgers between my husband and I, medium well. My kids ordered the sliders off the children’s menu which are priced at $6 for each item, and includes an entree and a side. I was a little surprised that a kids meal, meant for ages 12 and under, cost $6 but did not include a drink. I was also surprised that the sliders consisted of a half of a burger patty and a small portion of fries. This was a good meal for our 5 year old, but my 11 year old was done within 2 minutes and still hungry afterwards. Both burgers we adults had received were cooked perfectly and they were delicious. My kids sliders were also delicious but again, very small. The fries were very tasty but the homemade chips were bland. A side of ranch to dip them in would have cost $0.50. Overall, Pros: I would say the atmosphere is beautiful, the food was very good and the regular menu items are reasonably priced. Cons: This place just wasn’t that exciting. The kids meals are steep especially since they do not include a drink. I also think they are better suited for kids ages 8 and below due to the portion size. The condiments on the table need to be cleaned daily and the young gentleman server should consider smiling more. We still tipped 20% but would’ve tipped more if we felt like we weren’t a burden by the look on his face.
This is the place to go for lunch in West Jefferson. Could not ask to be treated any better, service, food, location and facilities and value were all great. Was met by the owner who is not afraid to be on the floor. Walking distance from the Cheese Factory.
Great food and easy access. Burgers were awesome. Went there for lunch with my dad and daughter on a family vacay.
