No wine cooler, didn’t open or poor the wine and didn’t open or poor the water she just plonked it on the table. The ambiance was dire. There was 1 table there when we arrived and they left before our main meal came out and then there was 1 new table arriving as we were leaving. So during our meal we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. The was no background music or anything other than our own conversation the only thing we could hear was the football being played on the TV in the bar. The food was not nice at all. We both ordered the lamb and it was very tough. I ate about half of mine and my wife had even less of hers. We also ordered bread and butter for the table and that was the best part of the whole meal.
Despite booking a table online and receiving confirmation it was closed when we arrived at 19:40, I phoned a confused sounding lady said she’d be there shortly. They subsequently messaged me with the following: “Thanks for the message. I've checked since morning and it was only booked for lunch which i served. There were no dinner maybe you've booked late. But thank you for calling me a confused lady. God bless you and sorry for the inconveniences.”
The Bakery is under new ownership and it shows. The menu is shorter, but that is no bad thing as the chef can concentrate on his main dishes.. The chef is very good and all our food was lovely. Tony, who is the main man front of house was on holiday so things did run as smoothly as they might have done. I think they just need time to settle in and take stock. It will not stop us going back.
Although quiet on the day we went it is a great place to enjoy the wonderful food. The new chef is brilliant! Tasty food well presented.
Lovely welcoming restaurant. Good food. Friendly staff.
