What an amazing restaurant! The food is excellent and the lunch experience lasts about 4 hours, with a variety of small courses that change weekly based on fresh ingredients. Yesterday, the main course was roasted water buffalo with potatoes, carrots, broccoli, and homemade horseradish. Before the main dish, we enjoyed polenta, pizza, homemade bread with pate, vegetable salad, crumbed squid, vitello tonnato, gnocchi with tomato sauce, and a delicious risotto. The dessert, a homemade cannoli, was fantastic. The service was friendly, helpful, and efficient. Andy Clappis, the host and chef of Our Place, is truly exceptional and deserves all the praise for the restaurant's success.
We spent a long Sunday lunch here with family, a small group of 6. Even though the lunch goes for 4+ hours it does not feel like it at all. Portions were perfect size and the food all cooked perfectly. We did not go hungry and had to learn to pace ourselves ready for the next course! Hard to not fill up on the freshly baked bread as it is just divine. Would recommend for a lovely Sunday lunch for any small group. Not to mention it is great value for what you get. Need to book ahead though, they are very busy! Thanks Andy staff for a lovely day.
The previous reviews about the excellent food are all relevant. Every dish was great quality and thoroughly enjoyable. The host, Andy, is a character who epitomises family and food that go together. It’s difficult to pick my favourite dish, but I could have just eaten the bread or pizza for 5 hours and I would have come away happy. The lamb was melt in the mouth good, but spoiled by the delay of 20 minutes before our non meat eater’s salmon finally arrived, by then the veg had gone cold. Unfortunately we also found ourselves next to a large group, one or two of whom thought the rest of their table was deaf, so they could probably be heard at the bottom of Willunga Hill. None of these spoiled our five hours feast too much that I wouldn’t jump at the chance of going again. In short; really good food, reasonably priced, excellent service and a great experience. Just take your ear plugs....
