Visited from Winnipeg, looking for a tapas place. Saw roast duck on the menu, came mainly for that. Chef John suggested several dishes, starting with the steak tartare, bacon-wrapped dates, pork belly (his take on the Filipino classic, Lechon kawali), the scallops, and of course, the duck. Expecting a lot, Chef John delivered. The scallops were the best I've tasted (all across Canada US), simply pan fried with a perfect crust adorned with cumin and spices. The take on Lechon Kawali was succulent, and came with a vinegar-chile dip. Simply good. The roast duck was perfect, juicy with a corn-potato compote. The steak tartare was not your ordinary fare; on bread like a bruschetta, it had Korean flavours to complement the raw meat with a little heat. And for the bacon-wrapped dates, it was a good interpretation of the Spanish tapas, drizzled with a balsamic reduction. I ate it all. The ambience was perfect, the service, and the food are what you'd expect from one of Canada's top restaurants. This is Windsor's best kept secret!
First and foremost, be sure to make reservations!! When we arrived for our 8pm reservation, the restaurant was packed. We waited in the lounge area for about 15 minutes before being seated at a high top table in the rear of the restaurant, which gave us a clear view of the kitchen through a window. We enjoyed excellent martinis and a good selection of wines with our delicious meal. We started with P.E.I. oysters, which were a great choice. My husband ordered the Sea Bass and I had the steak, both were beautifully presented and incredibly flavorful. Our server, Scott, was friendly and knowledgeable, answering all of my questions. The menu has a lot of options and we can't wait to go back to try more. We heard that the menu changes with the seasons, which is exciting. We have eaten at many special restaurants in our travels and F B definitely ranks among the best.
This restaurant is a hidden gem, for sure! It is small and cozy, which allows for a more intimate experience with your server and chefs. From the bacon-wrapped figs and curry shrimp to the bone marrow and lamb special, each dish has its own unique personality and is bursting with flavor. I can't say enough good things about this place! We will definitely be back again!
This is definitely the best restaurant I have ever dined at. The cocktails and food are incredible, with an amazing attention to detail in texture, flavor, and presentation. The staff is incredibly attentive and caring, making each visit an excellent experience. I have been here three times and have never been disappointed. I highly recommend this place. Thank you to the team for a fantastic dining experience!
First time at F&B last night and what a treat it was. My friend and I weren't sure what to get so Ryan and Jack made lovely recommendations for us. We tried the spicy chilli mussels, brussel sprouts, bacon wrapped dates, duck and the dessert which is a new creation daily. The sweet potato purple ice cream was to die for. Their food and drink creations are meticulously planned to give your taste buds a WOW sensation. I can't wait to go back. Best cosmo and brussel sprouts I've ever had. Again, we loved everything about this dining experience...YES it is an experience. Top-notch service, drinks and of course, food.
