Ha Long Bay Vietnamese - Wollongong

The food was fantastic and the ambiance had a charming vintage feel. The duck was incredibly impressive! It's boneless and filled with a mix of meat, mushrooms, water chestnuts, and other ingredients, all steamed before frying. The result of this intricate preparation is truly remarkable on the palate. The rice roll was excellent too, offering a completely new flavor! I would definitely give it a perfect score of 10 out of 10!

On my last visit, I realized how much I had missed this genuine restaurant in Wollongong's east end. The hot, fresh vegetable dish bursts with flavor, featuring a good amount of garlic and crunchy cashews. Plus, you get firm tofu instead of the deep-fried kind. It’s a little gem for lunch, and enjoying it on the balcony overlooking Crown Street makes the experience even better.

I had a fantastic lunch at Ha Long Bay! It was my first visit to the restaurant, and I'd heard so many great things from friends. I ordered the combination soup with added wontons, and it was delightful—definitely something I'd expect at a Chinese restaurant, so I was thrilled to find it here. The dim sims made for a great appetizer, and the service was outstanding.

We haven't been to this restaurant since it moved locations, and I think the move might be affecting their patron numbers. Our waitperson was very efficient, and the front of house including the bathrooms were tidy and clean. We enjoyed our entrees and mains and they allow byo beer and wine, which is great. Only $1.50 p.p. corkage. Two minor criticisms, the mains came out whilst we were eating our entrees, and their timing was a bit off getting the meals out together.

Food was good value and delicious. The staff were very helpful and polite despite the fact we forgot to order some things. I definitely recommend the RYO beef.
