My favourite banh mi place! Have been going here for years and never disappoints. Good food and great service
Yrscore: F5/E3/R4<br/ <br/ The combination roll tastes good. Probably one of the best I have tried in Adelaide so far. The meat was well prepared and taste great. <br/ <br/ This is more of a takeaway shop. There are a few high stools if you choose to dine in. The staff weren't exceptionally friendly but not rude. Could do with a bit more of attentiveness. I requested for additional chilli sauce but was ignored/forgotten. <br/ <br/ Will return as the Bahn Mi is really good. Hopefully, the experience will be way better next time!<br/
Time was when Banh Mi were a bit exotic and an unknown quantity. I remember having one in a market in Melbourne and thinking myself quite the cosmopolitan.<br/ <br/ Now of course you can 't throw a rock without having a fair chance of hitting a place that does 'Vietnamese Meat Rolls '. There are even chains of franchises doing them.<br/ <br/ Of course with so many people doing them you start to lose the authentic flavours of the thing. I suspect that quite a few of these have a connection with Vietnam in the sense that Terry behind the counter who 's making them once watched most of 'Apocalypse Now ' I had one that was more like a beef salad roll than anything Vietnamese.<br/ <br/ So it 's really a treat to head somewhere like this place that is making no concessions whatsoever to Western tastes. This is really, truly Banh Mi just like they 've been made for years.<br/ <br/ Two of us headed in and ordered two Banh Mi a drink from the fridge and an unfeasibly strong Vietnamese iced coffee.<br/ <br/ First thing to note... Despite the sign on the wall apologising for a price rise we were out of there for about $17.50 all up. This is cheap beyond all sense.<br/ <br/ I ordered a combination roll full of roast pork. Meatloaf, various mystery meats coriander, real pickled vegetables and slices of hot green chilli. The bread roll was like a fluffy cloud inside an eggshell. Fresh, perfect and delicious.<br/ <br/ My partner ordered something I 've never seen before: a sardine Banh Mi. The same bits and pieces, but with a sort of salty, fishy pate slathered on thickly. I was assured it was excellent.<br/ <br/ So, cheap, fresh, authentic and delicious. Pretty much a gold star from me.
One of the tastiest rolls you can get on Adelaide. Long term player in the meat roll game for a reason! Combination rolls are generous and weighty compared to alot of others out there! Will not be disappointed.
