98 Fish - Woombye

I placed a phone order and was told it would be ready in 10 minutes.Arrived about 12 minutes later and was told the order was still in progress and shouldn't take long. 20 minutes later, after constantly looking at the attendant, he looked in the Bain Marie and called out my order. He was embarrassed but didn't offer any apology. Needless to say, the chips were stale and mostly inedible. The quality of the fish was good. Next time I'll get there before the stated time and not rely on their service.

A solid 5 out of 5 for quality and fast service. A true local gem. Fish burgers are the value pick but the fish is superb.

Absolutely appalled! My family and I have been here on a number of occasions and unfortunately tonight is the last time we will return. We had family and friends over for NYE and ordered around 7pm - we arrived around 7:15pm took our food home and realised they'd forgotten the jumbo chips. Tried to call - first time it rang out, several times after it went straight to message bank (clearly taken off the hook). So in the car we get to head on down...we arrived at 7:35pm to them cleaning up. The staff then check with whoever was frying to hear him say "someone must've given it with another order". The abrupt, unhelpful light haired lady then says "sorry all I can offer you is a credit or refund". Sorry but that's not going to feed the hungry kids at home... she then says "well we did close at 7:30" Perhaps if they answered the phone instead of trying to run out the door they'd have known sooner. They weren't busy at this time - there was no reason for there to be any mistake made. Perhaps if she was more helpful I wouldn't be feeling the need to express my disappointment...but you have no one to blame but your staff member and her tone. Plenty of other quality fish and chip shops I'd rather spend my money.

The shop looks and feels very clean. The fish is fresh, the oil is clean, which you can taste. The origins of the different types of fish are indicated on the board and online; great idea. We usually get the whiting, which is always prepared to perfection: light and delicious. Not too fussed about the calamari, though. There are seats and tables in the shop, or you can ring ahead and pick up your order, too easy.

We've always loved getting our seafood from here, the best on the coast. Except our last few times. I've always popped in to get salmon on my way home but recently it hasn't been as fresh as previous. Hope they're not cutting corners. If they are you can tell and am hoping they find their way back. I'll be giving it one more go to see.
