The Maltings - York

Beautiful, old-fashioned pub full of nostalgic memories. the real Ale selection is extensive and well maintained, and there is a good selection of short food proportions are generous.

Recently here for a pint after the walk along the river, we had not planned to visit, but needed to warm up the dame that welcomed us was really friendly and asked if we were there for eating or only drinks and sat at a beautiful people watching place as we wanted a drink; I was surprised to discover that the pub is one of the venues on a youtube 'pub ambiance' video that we were really surprised during the creation of our home experience ' they were when they had no idea, but seemed that they have helped a small part to let people sane during the lockdown. the pub is exactly as they hope, friendly and knowledgeable staff, we did not eat, but the eating saw and melt like beautiful pub fare, cakes and chips etcetera. we were to end up for a second drink to enjoy the unique decoration of the maltings, and the palette of the lagner and ales was extensive and all the drinks we were beautiful, in fairness we could have stayed all afternoon and I am sure we had a great day, but we were on vacation and had various other activities already planned. will return definitiw next time in york.

We went on a Monday and saw Christ's johnson the acoustic gitarists who played live music that was excellent. we would see him happy again, it was so good. big beer and apple wines on tap, 'camra' style.

This is not our first visit..or our first assessment of this amazing pubs. You know, if you find a place that knows its customer base, know and care about its bar drinks, and eat it. Clearly homemade everything and very generous portions for really reasonable prices? if they are all looking at a place, they will not be disappointed when they visit the maltings. we have sincerely recommended to visit many of our friends york, as there are many places to choose to eat and drink in york. But in our opinion...no contest for a decent pint, a friendly welcome and a belly good eat.
