I am not a huge fan of potato salad, however, l did try it and it had good flavor. I like to try different sauces, and with them available on the table, it's so easy to experiment. I combined 2 for a smokie-sweet-tangy flavor! Fresh-cut fries~need I say more?! They were SO good, and with a few splashes of vinegar~Well, we'll just say there were not any fries left on my plate at the end of my meal.
The food was delicious and the portions were a decent size. I had the Turkey, cheddar jalapeño sausage and the pulled pork. My wife had the Brisket and the pulled chicken. All were very good. The mac and cheese was good and so was the corn bread.
Nothing like the pics people are posting! I got the 2 meat XL combo. Sausage was dry, brisket tasted like it was out of a can!! Manager lady was nice and asked if I wanted something else but my uncle had the chicken and ribs and I tried his and it was salty as heck! he got 2 small ribs and about a half cup of the chicken, I got 3 pieces of sausage that they cut on an angel so its mor like 2 whole pieces and about a half cup of the brisket. The potato salad was ok and the corn bread was corn bread nothing special. It reminded me of Woody's but a quarter of the food for what you pay and not very good, for what it cost $40 for both of us).
I really like the atmosphere of this place. I think I 've tried most of the meats and they are delicious. The only thing I don 't like is the cornbread . It 's actually a corn cake, only suitable for dessert. Definitely not true southern cornbread, which should be only lightly sweet. However many cups of sugar they use in their recipe should be cut back to that number of Tablespoons. The Sauces are also great and I love the variety.
It is a Veteran based place military, police, fire department, other first responders. Let them know it's your first time. The food is good, people are great, but prices seem a little high to me.
