My wife had fresh local fish. I had traditional Austrian fare. We sat outside, lakeside. Lovely evening.
We were stopping in nearby Bad Gosern but the half hour trip to this place was well worth it. Zell am See is a very pretty place but a bit of a tourist trap and you cannot appreciate it's beauty when sat in the middle of it. This is why we decided to view it from the other side of the lake and what better way to do from the restaurant of the Gasthof Seestrand? The place has some outdoor seating on a little patio but we chose to sit inside and were rewarded with a window view out across the lake. It was stunning and relaxing and a very enjoyable evening for my wife and I. Service was attentive whilst not overbearing, the food was hot, palatable and very well presented. Meals were very large in size and we both went for fish options (my wife for Salmon and I with traditional Cod.) Prices were very reasonable for the meals that we received although if you were a large family then it could be quite costly. This place also took payment via credit card and so this helped the cashflow as well.
The rooms are clear, cleaning up every day. The rooms with a view onto the lake are very beautiful. The guesthouse owner is very kind and helpful. The dinner was very tasty but the breakfast was poor and same every day. We received help for our gluten-free dining, thank you for the owner's family and the kind staff.
On the opposite side of the lake to the hustle and bustle of Zell itself. Covered terrace on the lakeside is a great location for lunch. Don't feed the ducks though, they get annoyed. Food and service was good. We cycled here, parking seemed limited
