What a charming restaurant near Furi station. The food is really good, we were there twice. Wide range of local food. The staff is really friendly.
My wife and I stopped off on four afternoons after skiing for aperos. The staff, including the owner, were always accommodating and very friendly. He is one of few restaurant owners prepared to speak French to clients, which is surprising since Zermatt is, after all, in a French-speaking canton. We were squeezed in once during a very busy lunch service, with no fuss, and had an exquisite meal. The croute au fromage Les marmottes was exceptional and I am a croute au fromage addict. The décor has been done to a high standard with traditional mountain refuge features alongside modern, clean and huge bathrooms. We were happy to be welcomed into Les Marmottes' friendly surroundings everyday rather than queue for the busy après establishments further down the piste.
My wife, our four children and I had lunch on the terrace with a beautiful view to the mountains that surround the Matterhorn, on a nice sunny skiing day. Food was excellent but above all the staff was very friendly all along the meal making us feel "at home."
With its own little ski-babylift, this restaurant is of easy access from either the red slope from Hirli or via direct access down the black slope from Furgg. The stop is more than worth it. Food is delicious. The owner elevates his own animals. Service deserves a special mention as the girl who served us was so keen to deliver a good restaurant experience for every customer.
